    Charter boat? What charter boat?

    Hey everyone.

I am thinking of an end of year charter fishing trip and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of a decent fishing charter. I have been on a few over the years and have pretty much been less than impressed. The day usually entails a (short) ride out to have the privilege of bottom bashing for undersized rubbish.

I would like to get the guys onto some decent fish and go out with a crew that have as much fun as we will.

    Cheers

http://www.fishthedeep.com.au have a good name, provided a brilliant day the last time I went and we've got an ausfish charter fishing trip happening with this this coming Sunday.. The report will be up in the offshore section, so you'll be able to see how we've gone.

    How many of you?
If its only a few then Outlaw with John Gooding takes about 5, and is outstanding, and runs out of Manly.
Or there's SQCS with Rob Smith, who takes about 4, out of Mooloolabah.

Been on both, and both skippers went above and beyond to provide us with a memorable day.

    Mate
If you prepared to travel to Rainbow Beach then Baitrunner has a good rep or there is a couple other good operators out of Tin Can Bay as well.
Rob Smith is well worth considering as stated before, really tries hard but you will need to decide on what you want to target beforehand as because of the size of his boat he has a few options to choose from, from bottom bashing to chasing marlin. After catching our first marlin a few weeks ago I'd be going the marlin.

My last trtip before moving away from Qld was with Fish The Deep. Not a bad day small black, tuna, snapper, trag jews and flathead. Not normally keen on shoulder to shoulder fishing but the fish made up for it.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

I ended up booking Rob Smith at SQCS, the main reason being that there will only be 2-3 ppl fishing and not 20. I have done the shoulder to shoulder thing and I have never enjoyed myself.

We are booked for the 2nd week of Dec, will let you know how we went.
