We got back the other night from Fraser after a week camping at the last camping ground south of Indian Head.
When we arrived on the island, the rangers were doing a control burn off on the southern end of the island and gave us reduced visibility:
The first couple of days, we were only catching 2 tailor each a day.
Opening of the closed section on Wednesday was unreal.
We fished Waddy Point this year off the rocks and I landed 3 and dropped 2 big tailor, just with in sight of the rocks. First one was caught on a pilly, then the others were caught on spinning lures, something I had never tried before.
Biggest one came in at 58cms.
Here is a photo of what the gutter near Indian Head was like on our last day:
A few tailor from a morning of fishing:
There were the most amount of whales up there this year then I have seen there before.
The tracks are very dry and boggy.
Indian Head cutting is not too difficult to get through, but Champagne Pools cutting is a bit tricky which resulted in a few cars getting in trouble.
The track to Orchard Beach is desperate need of a grader to do some work on it. I would hate to be towing a boat up there along the track now compared to when we were up there for the comp earlier this year in May.
We had a fantastic time with fabulous weather.
The Live Fibre surf rod that I won from the Moreton Bay Classic comp got a real workout.....
