Re: spinnerbait retreive for murray cod??
hey Ockoman,
mate slow and steady, just enough to ensure the blades are spinning,
ive found with cod a lot of fish hit the lure as its falling too, often a cast is straight above their hole,
try to get the spinners with colorado blades as these make more vibration too and work at slower speeds.
keep the lure close to the snags as well, i often drag it across the bottom so its just spinning but hitting all sorts of snags along the way,.
be prepared to lose a few, its just lucky they are pretty snag resistant
cheers,
Ben

hey mate,
ive found they are not too fussy,
personally i like the bassman codman spinners with soft plastic shad built in,
the bigger the profile the better it seems
ive only fished for them in clear water around the new england area,
down there red/black or purple seems best
the water is clear though so manybe take a couple of colours

Mate, I fish the Macquarie in the Dubbo region flat out. AusSpin 3/8 oz tandem blade in purple tiger and electric purple are deadly for me, along with the 1/2 oz twin spin in the same colours. Just make sure you always use a stinger hook as some of the bigger fulla's we have caught have been all stinger!
I like to work the entire water column- starting from the bottom up- stay in touch with it as well cause if they are in the right mood or they happen to be right under your cast- they will smash them on the drop!
Dead slow, with a pause and a flick here and there works for me.
I have found that fishing the running water in the Macca is the go- I think of it as a food conveyerbelt- the fish sit at the end of it with their mouths open, and don't be scared to have a go even if it looks a bit shallow!!!
Get in amongst those snaggs and along the weed bed edges that will be abundant by the time you visit and you should have a ball.
Let us know how you go,
Kind Regards, Pod.

last cpl of weeks ive been catching cod out at woodford all around the 45cm mark and ive never actually tried spinner baits out there for em however the rapala x raps shads 50mm in a greeny gold dive depth around 2 mtrs have been nailing them for me also caught some monster yellowbelly in the process. only thing is when u snag one of them rapalas lol doesnt that hurt the pocket''' will post up some pictures when i get back from dI.
