Stella 5000SW from Overseas (NZ), Cheap

    Hey all,

i normally support my local tackle shop, but the savings for the buying the same product from NZ was too much for me,

I brought a Shimano Stella 5000SW from Complete Angler from NZ
    http://www.completeangler.co.nz/shim...idp219914.html

At the moment they are $999 NZ, the cheapest i could get one here in Aussie was for $999AUD. remembering that the Aussie dollar is worth 20% more than the NZ dollar and because it is being shipped out of NZ, means you don't have to pay 12.5% NZ GST.
so that is a saving of 32.5% roughly. which is a BIG saving, postage and insurance for it was $39NZ and there is no customs to pay in Australia as it is under $1000AUD.

it ends up being around $760 AUD delivered, remember that your credit card will charge you about $25 for international purchase, mine did anyway.

i ordered over the phone and my Stella took about 6 days to get from ordering to receiving it.

i know i will get hammered by some for posting this, because we should support our local tackle shop. but around $240 dollars of savings is a big amount for some people and that can buy a lot of tackle from our local tackle shop. which is were i'll be going this week to stock up my supplies

P.S. I'm a dual citizen AUS/NZ and still have my house in NZ, so i suppose in my case it is still a local purchase???

    Cheers,

    Bryn

hey Trueblue. it is $1000 AUD for shipping and post into Australia and $900AUD if you bring it with you on a airplane. i don't know why the $100 difference, but if your unsure look at the customs website, all the info is there.

    cheers,

    Bryn

    Importing Goods By Post
Imported goods may arrive into Australia by airfreight, express courier, sea cargo or via the post. The method of delivery determines the Customs clearance formalities and charges.

If you are receiving your goods via the post you are considered the importer of those goods and these may be subject to Customs duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Generally, all goods imported into Australia are subject to Customs duty and GST and are assessed for community protection risks. However, all goods (except for tobacco and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if the value of the goods is A$1000 or less.

Irrespective of how your imported goods arrive in Australia, you will be required to lodge a formal Customs Import Declaration if their value is above A$1000, and pay the calculated duty and taxes. Import Declarations are used to clear goods from Customs control. Import Declaration may be lodged electronically, documentarily or through the use of a licensed Customs Broker (located in your local yellow pages). There are cost recovery charges associated with the lodgement of an import declaration.

All imported goods are subject to the controls of the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services (AQIS). More information on AQIS requirements is available at: www.aqis.gov.au.
