Hi Ken. Mate octobers a good time for schoolies, try around the rubble grounds out from pt vernon. This area has a vast array of reef fish as well ! Another spot to try is out from the pier at urangan, just look for the birds or other boats ! Just out of the urangan harbour is round island, a great place to picnic. But stay to the southern side, cause theres no reef !!

    All the best
    Mark.

A great spot to pull up in the Bay is Pelican Bank. Its over near Moon Point so you can fish around the Arti and the top end of Big Woody then head up to Pelican for lunch. Just watch the tides as it goes out pretty quickly and you can end up high and dry. You might even be able to nail a Golden Trevally on the flats, its a magic spot, one of our favourites.
Enjoy your trip, heres a couple of pics from Pelican Bank

    Nice spot Pelican Banks.

I use to go outside past Break Sea Spit many occassions, beautiful fish but prick of a crossing at times.

Would like to get back out but not many operators go outside. Seaspray was great. Hombre charters was alright but a slow old girl, bit too rocky going over the bar for and old Carvel hull.

Tasman Venture is for a 3 day or longer. Not many goes out for a day these days.

Does anyone know of any that does? Does KJ Charter still operate?

    Cheers, Peter

If you look on the Fishntales site there is most of the general marks listed, they'll get you started for sure.Give the arty a go theres been quite a few mackeral caught recently and they'll still be about.Theres a green zone at the top end of Big Woody its marked so you shouldn't miss it.Depending on the winds anything north is crap, you could always run out to River heads and put in there and have a go in the Mary or Susan rivers.Threadfin are just starting up again plus your usual flatties, bream whiting and cod.Try and catch Gecko he fishes quite a lot in the rivers(tells you a bit about the wind). Not sure how the jacks have been going.
Enjoy your trip.Picture is Moon Point flats.
