    Offshore Marine Master Jaycat 7000???

    Hi,

Just trawling through the pages of Boatpoint and came upon this boat. http://www.boatpoint.com.au/boats-fo...aspx?R=7410102

I have been considering an upgrade for a while, though it isn't something that is overly pressing. Just would like more cockpit space and I like the idea of two motors for those long runs out to the reef and beyond.

Does anyone have any experience with these boats in terms of build quality, ride etc. I have absolutely no experience in cats but am happy to learn.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

I am pretty sure there was one of these at the brisbane boat show at the convenction centre that was going for around the mid 90 thousand twin suzuki four strokes ally trailer etc etc look very nice welds looked good, was a very well built boat by the look of it. He said it was going cheap because the person that ordered it couldnt get the money to pay for it and quite a large deposit was forfeited. Have not been in one but for mid 90's it looked like a steal.

I considered that boat too but ended up with a KC 2400. It is good value for around $115k with 140 suzukis. I wanted to get away from alloy and have something with very good resale value as I seem to always want to change over every 3 years or so. From my investigations they seem to be well built and very well set out. The builder said he could custom build one in that size but it would be around $150k. The one on boatpoint is a demo boat built for the boatshow. I am suprised it hasn't sold yet as he said he had lots of interest after the Brisbane boat show.

Thanks for the info Indy and Perko.

I sent them an email via Boatpoint today and got a prompt reply today. Apparently that boat sold last week. Definitely not in a position to spend 150k. If I go again then I'll probably stick with alloy, but no paint. Tired of the scratches and bubbling paint.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

Thats the exact reason I went glass, sick of bubbling paint. Not many manufacturers like to do unpainted but i think Jaycat would. Did he quote you on a similar boat?

    Gooday Alchemy,
For your interest Wayne Kampe tested the Jaycat 6000 back in Jan2008. [Queensland Fishing Monthy] He gave this boat a good write up .

Thanks Brush. I read that last night.

Perko, no I haven't had a quote yet. Just saw that boat advertised and thought I'd look for feedback here. I will call them this week as I'll be in Bris in a couple of weeks.
