BFCA - Take Coral Sea to Canberra

As reported by Fisho BFCA members had scheduled meetings late last week with Federal Ministers Tony Burke and Peter Garrett as well as senators from the Liberal and National parties.

    Details @ http://www.fishingworld.com.au/news/...ea-to-canberra

"The BFCA is now planning its way ahead on the Coral Sea issue, and how it deals with state-based issues - Logan says at this stage he believes future issues are likely to be dealt with on a case by case basis"

Is Sunfish - Eco Fishers talking with these guys in regards to our Snapper issue ?

I believe it would be a good move - Scotto

Re: BFCA - Take Coral Sea to Canberra

Ecofishers Queensland have had talks and meetings with a number of government representatives, and will continue to do so.

Our views have been made quite clear and it has been reinforced that recreational fisherfolk will not accept PEW ideals regarding the proposed Coral Sea Closures.

Regional management is an ideal tool to respond to current and future State fishery issues.

"recently formed Boating and Fishing Council of Australia - an alliance body representing rec fishing, boating and marine groups"

The Council consists of the following groups:
    • Australian Marine Industries Federation including: Marine Queensland; Boating Industry Association of SA; Boating Industry Association of VIC; Boating Industry Association of WA; Boating Industry Association of NT; Boating Industry Association of NSW
    • Australian Fishing Trade Association
    • Outboard Engine Distributors Association
    • Australian Marine Engine Council
    • Recfish Australia (Recfish Australia support BFCA however cannot officially join until the new Recfish Board is appointed at this weekends annual general meeting in Melbourne)

Not much representation there for rec anglers.

So now there is this group plus Recfish plus Sunfish plus other groups like Ecofishers, then all the fishing bodies..ANSA, SQAFCA, QAFCA plus similar from all the other States.

Crikeys it would be great to have one organisation representing rec anglers alone..no boating industry or tackle industry bodies and no commercial entities either...just plain old rec fishos for rec fishos.
