Yep no probs and can be any unit to receive data
This is needed if you want to use the "Mark" button to save
a waypoint from the screen to your unit.
What GPS you running ?

Gday mate both units share NMEA so not a problem.
But you will need to get a data cable for the garmin

some good shows there. i dont use mine in 50/200, always on bottom lock as i feel this is easier to read and gives a better indication of fish/ schools

I have been told to use HF Shallow/ 200 in water up to about 60 mtrs and not to use the bottom lock function.

Question-- Bottom zone setting window-- where should it be-- above or below?
Also in the manual it says that incorrect gain setting can give false water depth readings-- is this true?

Just the other day infact... but mine is a 585.... still the same connections.
Mine is connected to my Garmin 128 & works like a charm.

Your normal cable should have the NMEA wires available if not a handheld.

Bottom Lock will make it easier to tell apart the fish from structure.

Mine is always in the Shallow setting (FCV620). I mainly fish 50 - 90metres and it works great, especially if you use the shift function and get rid of half the water column.

Maybe if your Gain isn't high enough you may get a false depth reading or maybe not even get a depth reading. The deeper the water the more gain needed and vice versa when moving to shallower water.

SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT...... This function is invaluable when bottom bashing, the amount of detail that you will see when you employ this function as opposed to not using it is well ......heaps.

After a nightmare run with Lowrance rubbish for many years, I brought a FCV-620 as well, thrilled with it's performance but are starting to have a issue with the screen fogging up over here in cold conditions - not a major though as the manufacturere is going to sort it, a few pics below of fish targets below that may be of interest to some of you.



Kahawai (Salmon to you guys!) and baitfish everywhere, can see my line descending into the bait with a jig, hoping to nail that BIG individual target at 40ft.



Picking up lots of Tarakihi (kinda like Morwong over there???) on the bottom (bottom lock on left screen), one coming up only to get nailed by a couta or kingie you can see hitting it at 40ft. baitfish were numerous, caught heaps of large Jack Mackerel, there were some very large fish showing, most likely spooky kingies.



More big fish (likely kingies again) skirting the Kahawai schools, threw a livie down to no avail, water temp was a lousy 14deg.



Some large fish and baitfish hard on the bottom over structure, I did hook the fish on the left on a small Jack Mack livie only to be toasted into the foul big time on 24kg!!!


Tarakihi holding hard on the bottom in bottom lock mode, bottom lock is invaluable for these fish or using manual shift and gain.



The "South Sea" wreck in Wellington harbour showing some promising looking sign and bait blobs hanging around, and a favourite blob of foul near the heads showing fish schooling over the structure.



More Tarakihi and bait hard on the bottom, landed a couple of smallish Trevally from this sign as well.
