Re: Which Plate???
Mate has a Pacific Sportsfish 6.2M center con plate boat with 2 Merc 60's on the back.
It has been great for him, can be beach launched, which it is every time we go fishing down here.
Lockable forward section, live bait tanks, under floor storage etc
Big enough to drive 50K's to the shelf and fish for SBT all day, light and easily towed and retrieved.
Plenty of room and was $42K second hand 5 years ago.
Plenty of bigger boats out there, but i haven't seen a more versitle and user friendly vessel, very cheap on fuel.
Just a bit hard to stop if the wind blows up, but hey, you can't have it all.

Re: Which Plate???
John, I have just spent 9 months researching a similar project before the right boat turned up on the second hand market.
I ended up narrowing it down to:
-fisher
-bluewater
-Ocean blue boats http://oceanblueboats.com.au/
There are heaps of other great builders but location was also going to be a big factor so I could be involved in the build without adding any additional costs in travel.
pm me if you have any specific questions.

Re: Which Plate???
Thanks again for all the replies. If I was to go new budget would be mid 60's. I would rather not spend that sort of money so this is why I am looking at 2nd hand. But again some of the prices 2nd hand are pretty close to what the boat would cost new. These plate boats don't seem to drop in value much from new to used. I really want the cabin either cuddy or centre for protection. Thanks again. John.
