    Its a Sickle-fish. Top eating as Grant says " An esteemed table fish, the flesh is flakey and white"

    when i was a lad many moons ago,did a lot of fishing in the area,namely Bakers creek, we called them butter bream.very good eating!

    Sickle fish, great eating mate, nice catch. they actually get pretty big, we get them through the river occasionally

    Definetly not a scat, though they do look similar. scats have venomous spikes, whereas the sicklefish is quite harmless.

    some have hit it on the head whilst others are just wacking there thumbs
    this is the spotted butterfish/spotted scat/scatophagus argus (linnaeus)( and are not regarded as tablefish, if only because of their foul eating habits in poluted harbour.the scientific name-scatophagus translates to:feeder of dung.) quoted in the bible.

    the sicklefish is a top grade table foodfish looks very much like the spotted butterfish 1 you can eat and one you cant wouldnt want to mix them up.
    maybe my thumb is abit red?
