    Monduran Pb and friends

Missed the Mondy muster by a couple of days but ran into a few stragglers still there. It was great to finally meet some of the people that post on here, experienced a couple of camp fires which were relatively subdued due to the long hours spent fishing. The fishing was tough as usual but a few good fish were caught but as usual it was just turning on as I was about to leave so had to stay a couple of hours longer than expected.

I arrived Tuesday around 2, set up tent and went straight out to bird bay. I figured some fish must have been getting caught in there as every point had a boat anchored off of it, so I went right down the back of bird bay till it ran out of water and found no one there so settled in. Landed 2 small 60ish fish just on dark so I came in to the campfire happy to not get yet another doughnut in monduran. Sat around the campfire til about 12. We all experienced Nathan's quack towards the end of the night.
Slept in and started fishing in bird bay again around 9 for 1 swirl, fished wiggle bay for 1 good solid hook up on a tree, fished 1 fish bay for nothing, then bread bay for the same, met up with trev and nathan in there, fished another bay that I don't know the name of, so was starting to warm up the doughnut after 6 hours of nothing. Found a weed island up past B and decided to fish it, after half an hour of nothing I was preparing to leave when suddenly on to a 98cm fish, so I decided to stay a little longer actually a lot longer as I left just on dark after landing another fish around a metre so went back to campfire. Pete had got his first fish so was slightly happy. With no Nagg or Trev it was an early night for most as a plan to fish predawn was hatched by Pete.

Somehow I missed the 4am call so I packed up camp so I could stay out till lunch and go home. Went up to B for the first time this trip. Found a shallow area with lots of large boneys flicking on top just out from a point. Had a couple of casts and was on to a biggish fish, took a while to land on my 2500 sol. Eventually she met the boga grips, fortunately Lee had arrived at pepper point so I swam her over to him so he could take a photo for me. Thanks Lee. 123.5cm new pb for monduran. Invited lee to fish the same area and we got nothing more except for lee getting a couple of hits. Continued fishing numerous points in B for nothing so decided to call it a day at 12 and went to have a last fish in bird bay. Suprisingly bird bay was empty except for pete, so I picked a sheltered point. First cast had a swirl right at the boat, so looked promising so anchored up. Landed a 90 something soon after, had numerous hits for next 2 hours and ended up landing 4 fish in the 90's, 2 jump off, 1 straightened hook and 6 hits which didn't hook up. Best session ever in Monduran. Forced me to stay later than expected. On the road heading for home at 6pm. Put in 12 hours a day for 9 fish landed including a new pb, all soft plastics so a lot of casts between fish but still my best ever trip to Mondy. Saved by the last 2 hours of the trip.

Good to see everyone getting into at least 1 fish for all the effort put in.
    cheers scott.[

Nice work mate. The big girl was a cracker and thanks again for your help. Glad the pics turned out well so you have a good memory of the big girl.

Your afternoon session sounded like one to remember. Well done.

After I left you to go home i thought i might spend 60mins extra so I drove into Bird Bay, but then changed my mind and headed to the ramp Looks like I should have stayed

    Cheers

You made the right decision Lee, I didn't get to bird bay till 1pm and Pete had been there all morning and nothing had been happening for them either, started after 2.

Just awesome Scott. We too fished Bird a fair bit the last two days but did not enjoy what you did. Sincere congrats on your promotion to AFC mate.....not a more deserving person.

I'm off Red Emperor fishing in cairns for the next 10 days, so if I don't reply it's because I'm not near my computer. The fishing was good but the company was better.
    Thanks to all, scott.
