South Straddie - anywhere for food at the moment ?

Now that tipplers is closed ( Any news on that ) , is there anywhere to stop for food etc when I'm out with the wife and kids.

They've got very fond of putting the chairs up on the PIN and waiting for the booze boat but wouldn't might a meal and toilet on the odd occasion.

What about harrigans, do you have to arrange /pay for the mooring for lunch. Any other places ?

Now that Tipplers is gone , the only other place is McLarens Landing, it's just north of tipplers almost walking distance, not a bad set up with the thatch roofs throughout and has toilets , food (costs more) , and you can get bar drinks,

they've moved some of the watersport gear there like the paddle boats and hire stuff, no pool which was great but it doesn't have the charm of tipplers, but they are trying and have the live entertainment that was at tipplers,

The only news about tipplers is that it is costing the taxpayer heaps to maintain it.

received the following email last week from Gold Coast boat sales.

RE-OPENING OF TIPPLERS on South Stradbroke Island

Tipplers Resort, a boaties destination has been purchased by the Gold Coast
City Council at a cost of $7M +, at this stage the resort has been locked up
and abandoned, the council is now calling for suggestions as to what they
should do with it (just a bit late) however the feeling from all is that the
plan has always been to knock it down and return the area to wasteland, the
thought is that all that have an interest in seeing this cheap destination
kept for the boating public inundate the council with letters requesting the
council lease it out to private enterprise with the intention of keeping it
    open.

If you would like to post a letter outlining what you would like to see
happen over at Tipplers, now is the time to do so.

It has been advised that if we need to get in as many individual letters to
the GCCC CEO, Mr. Dale Dickson within the next 2 weeks.

The letter can be as formal or informal as you like; explain the reasons you
& your family have enjoyed Tipplers Resort in the past & why you would like
to see the venue re-opened for public access.

    Letters addressed to:

    CEO GOLD COAST CITY COUNCIL
    MR. DALE DICKSON
    PO BOX 5042
    GCMC QLD 9729

Grabbed lunch at harrigans today. The place was fully reserved, but they got us in as we were there early. A very large plate of hot chips for 7.50 ish kept everyone happy.

Ended up at McLarens landing on the beach for the rest of afternoon. Big wedding was going. Nice boggy mud when the tide goes out.

    Couran Point allows boaties in.
You pay a $50 moorinng fee , but with that you get a $50 bar/ bitro tab to spend.
Couran Cove how ever will not let you in unless you are visiting some one on the resort.
