    Pricing, Etec ~ Opti

    G'Day

Did a small ring around today looking for prices on a pair of 115's, local bayside dealers, some food for thought for prospective buyers

    Opti's: $12'800.00 ea
    Etec's: $ 17'000.00 ea

    Both counter rotating

    + fittup

Was told that the new Etec pricing is inline with comparative 4 bangers, 4K more than Opti's

    Only 2 dealers rung

    Cheers

I love my opti 115. Sips fuel and hammers along nicely.

17K for a etec 115, someone is making a lot $, paid not much more than that for a 150.
Optis have been very cheap last couple months since mercury had a lot trouble when us market sh-t itself, mercury doing silly prices.

    G'day Peter (ribbit).

VS, if you can get the Merc product so cheaply then go for it. Both are comparable.

Brunswick Corp (Mercury and many other names under Brunswick Corp) have taken massive share price hits in recent times. Their share prices have dropped incredibly since Dec 2004. They were worth about $50 a share and are now only $9.43 per share.

I don't ever see Mercury Marine dying off, no way.... But the chips are down in the US ina major way and survival is the key, so if you can get a Merc product way cheaper than the competition then I say go for it bigtime...

    cheers

The price difference in some HP ranges is absolutely stupid

Frankly they are bothe overpriced like all outboards. Hope you get a steak knife set with em both

With the Aussie up at 85c you could bring in a pair and a spare dressed powerhed for that money- stuff teh warranty. USA second hand motors are binging sp[are change at teh minute and I would love to buy half a dozen.

    Totally for information fellas

Looking at a boat with twin 130 carbureted yammies, just seeing if it was viable to change over to more fuel efficient motors.

The price of the etec's are ridiculous

    Cheers

what makes you think carbies are more fuel efficient than di or efi. thats a major step backwards with a zilch resale value.

    Re: Pricing, Etec ~ Opti

At the end of the day the opti is miles cheaper and i think better etec are out of control with the priceing or the dealer is trying to make to much margin.
