    Help with Yamba Jew?

Hi all. Been fishing Yamba for some years and seen many guys cathcing Jew there. I've never caught a jew in my life and would love to give it a crack. Does anyone have any advice on where to start, bait etc? Is there a particular season?Have a 13' tinny so can fish most parts of the river out to the mouth. Going down next week for a few days.

Do a search for reports from ryansrods ~2008 (think he's moved to harvey bay since then) - He used to live down that way and always landed 1 or 10!!

Live mullet is the go for bait, an around turn of the tide.....be prepared to put in some hours though.

try middle wall or collis wall live mullet is the go but squid cut baits live tailor etc will also catch fish, slack water is the time. You could also try the yamba or iluka wall during the day at slack water with livies, big sp's or even slow trolled hb's.

Mate hit up the Clarence Bridge going over to Mclean at night time with livies (mullet/herring). Tie off to a pilon that has good light over the water-end of the run in tide and until it turns.

Did you fish the Illuka or Yamba side of the wall mate? Do you mean the seaward end or the western end of the wall. Many thanks for all the advice guys!

We normally use a castnet in QLD to get the live bait. I assume you catch your livies down there on the little jiggers? Any ideas on the best place to jig for live bait?
