Offshore 2400 with 115
Anyone been in a kevlacat 2400 with 115 suzuki 4's. Most come with the 140 suzukis. Just wondering if the 115 give good enough performance.

Re: Offshore 2400 with 115
Hi
When I first got into my 2400 KC it was powered with 2x115hp Yamahas. Which I expected to be ample power for most conditions - which it was when working in Moreton Bay or on calm days offshore.
However on rough days offshore and when the South Passage bar is being unfriendly especially on run-out tides the boat lacked power and there was a definite lag when applying the throttle.
I would cruise on a calm day at 4200rpm at about 21kts.
I have re-powered with the Suzuki 140's and there is a massive difference - a lot more grunt and no power lag.
My cruise now is between 25 - 27kts at 4200rpm.
Obviously the 115 Yam and the 115 Suzuki will have differences however I would advise you to stick to the 140hp as it you will definitely be satisfied.
