I think you are allowed 1 under 1.5m
yep pretty sure its... 1 shark (or ray) limit, must be under 1.5 meters..
... and no take for...great white, grey nurse and speartooth (also sawfish)
but as Noelm says...why....better of with a real shark for usable flesh....a 1.4m bronzie for eg.

I saw a couple of guys get into an argument the other day about a Wobby. One fella watching blew up because the guy was gonna keep it.

I've eaten two wobbies that I speared in NSW many years ago...Should have gave them to the Italians and Greeks, I was offered $300.00 for it. Told them to bugger off and catch their own, not very tasty compared to a nice gummy or school shark...should have taken their offer.

No laws about taking wobbies, it is an urban myth that they are protected, but they do have a cult following who insist they are, everbody loves the ugly ones for some reason. I wouldn't take one but that is just my opinion.
You should of seen the outrage on this site a few years back when a young bloke by the name of 'Chemmy' posted a pic of a dead wobby that he had speared, the threats that were getting thrown around over this were ridiculous considering he was just 15 or 16 year old kid at the time.

hey, don't get me wrong, I reckon Wobbies are fine to eat, but the return of edible flesh is so bad that it is not worth the effort, they are buggers of things to clean and fillet, then skin and cut off all the blood meat, better off eating something else.
It is an interesting experience to throw a cutlet of wobby on the bar b que. As soon as it hits the hot plate it shrinks and becomes about 40% thicker .
Like chewing rubber. A waste of time and effort.
So the gist is I should have collected the $300 donation

Have to disagree with you fellas, a wobby between 5-10kg, cut into skinless, boneless fish cocktails,dipped in beer batter, shallow fried and served with salt, lemon slices and a fresh salad is very fine dining.
Definitely bu$$ers to prepare though, the skin is like emery cloth!
As far as I'm aware they are still a no-take in NSW, unfortunately!
