Barra take prize- Awoonga 29/8/09
Well after Kev's report on the fishing Friday evening there was only one thing to do! Go Fishing A couple of calls later Kev and I decided to hit the water about 2.30pm. Once on the water it was decided to try similar tactic to that of Kevs from Friday given that we had nearly the same conditions. Probably a touch stronger breeze.
Anyway after choosing a location we fished an area via the leccy first off just to get a feel for what was happening. Good signs straight away for me with a couple of bumps. Had no luck yet though so we moved on. Fished another area for a while before deciding to go to original area as it definately looked promising.
After motoring back, drifting in and deploying anchor we were fishing a spot we were happy with. We then realised the anchor was dragging, oh well not to bad ,keep fishing it might grab It was then that i saw a big girl break the surface close to the bank chasing baitfish. One well placed cast and retrieve, nothing, oh well one more in that spot and bang I was on. Big Fish, knees were shaking. This one wasn't to be though she was deep hooked and i was on light leader, fish won in the end.
Decided to reposition and hope anchor holds. All went a bit quiet for a while but everytime we started to question tactics and area we would get a bump, certainly keeps you on your game. Shortly after 7.00pm i had 3 enquiries in 4 casts, 5th cast bang i was on again. Having gone back to heavier twisted leader i was more confident and in the end we had a nice 103cm fish in the boat. Iwas stoked
After a couple more positional and tactical changes in the same area we managed to hook and lose 3 more fish, 1 to Kev 2 to me, I know my conversion rate is not very good but hopefully it will turn around one day. Anyway to cut a long story short the Barra were the victors this time but can't wait for the rematch. Thanks Kev
Cheers Shaun
PS - will post a photo when i can work out my camera.

You blokes are really making me suffer from a bad case of IBD with all these good reports.....I can't get up to Mondy until late Nov... Well done

Still a good session Shaun despite some losses to underwater obstructions - a hook-up means we found and triggered a fish into striking.
Main learning for me last night was (and while this sounds overly simple) if you hear/see signs of feeding fish and flighty baitfish move to a position where you can get at them and then come up with a presentation to get to them as well.
Oh one more learning, interesting how things "shutdown" after some external factors changed.....

Mate, lost a leccy prop a couple of months ago. Am guessing similair situation, anchoring in slight swell with the leccy down. Anchor rope popped prop off (I guess). At least they are fairly cheap ($30 from Pats)
Sounds like a great night. Will catch-up with you and Kev one night for a joint attack !!!!
