Why do you need another unit apart from the 585?

Maybe an old 582 if you are going to hook it up to the same transducer. FF50s and 60s seem to have a good wrap but not sure on the plug connector compatibility

Yep same ducer and all...spose if ducer dies ya buggered but the cheapest alternative would be to continue fishing over previous GPS marks, Failing that a fcv620 from the US is pretty price competitive atm.and it is cool to have 2 of everything Are you running 600 or 1kw

Hi Justin, you could go wiyh the Furuno 295 and keep the 585 as the spare, I just shopped at Fishon and have the 295 sitting here, looks to be a good unit

siegfried, yerh have thought about it, just wasnt sure as i was think if i ran a different sounder and another transducer i may get different pictures,

atm i am running a 600w, but in the process of mounting 2 new 1kw thru hulls on the transom a 50hz and 200hz

daz, looked at the 295 at the boat show, but as the guy said to me would be a waste of time unless you were using a 2kw ducer to get the good capability and if not there wouldnt be much different between the 295 and 585

Mate I ran a585 and ds600 raymarine simultaneously one from the top and one downstairs and the picture generally was the same but prefer the 585 cause bigger and cooler with way more definitionin the deeper(>60fath) stuff. I only had 2 because of the dual station. My second sounder is now 2kw because I reckon if your gunna run 2 run a high quality job and then an even higher quality one. Trouble is you just keep chucking money at gear. We regularly fish4-600m and the reality of it is the 585 does pretty well everythingwe need. You are spending a few bob on transducers to connect to a 585 so another 585 would be the go. 295s 1150s etc are wasted without 2-3kw and the 620 cant justify those transducers ,tell you what but, with 2 585s you will be the man..good luck
