    A weekend @ Mondyville

With Scotty... yep ... With Awoonga not producing the goods on Friday... I kinda coerced Scotty to join me in fishing one of his least favoured Barra dams....{ He won a ABT event there a couple years ago}...We arrived just after lunch on Saturday.. The water temp was hotter than Awoonga .. quite toasty at around 24c in some bays .We fished a couple of bays and spooked a few fish with no enquiries so off to" B " and a nightime fish... The Area that we chose had a creek running along one side with shallow flats that the Barra could come onto and feed.. We anchored and awaited there arrival....Dusk.... Barraoclock... I get the first touch with the fish running towards the boat....Gone...next Scotty is on .. the fish jumps its way to freedom... A couple of minutes later he is on again. This time the fish chews the leader through...But as they say 3rd time lucky and a nice 85 joins us on the Skeeter deck ...Photo time.. its getting late and the bugs are getting bigger so we call it a night... Sunday.. off to the crab pot.. {Easy to get in bloody hard to get out } er sorry Jackies Barra Havoc pick up a few things then on the water . Weedbeds with creeks....yep... again I get the first hit the line is marked three inches up the line.. How did that fish not get hooked ? I was showing Scotty how JM works his rubbers and I am on again... This time the braid breaks at the reel... what new braid...not happy Jan.....We then get a visit from two youngsters in a tinny straight over where we are fishing ..Not happy Jan part two....So we move on...We decide to try our luck fishing bays. Scotty get a couple of enquirys ...but no hookups...What am l doing ? playing guide I findem you catchem sunshine...Sounds good anyway.....Another bay another fish but this time Scotty hooks up to Homers sister... Now I have seen a few big barra in my time ... this thing was rather large.... Lets just say Bloody BIG .. She or should I call her madam had him round a couple of trees... Round this one ...back through there .. The fish is just sitting there..untill we unweave the line but she gives one last head shake and spits the lure back at him...We move on...Another bay and Scotty is on again to two fish .First one throws the lure but stays conected to the next one and another barra gets its photo taken.... Now I have this right the guide puts people onto fish ? Its not his job to catch them...? I tell Scotty his guide just quit and its time for me to catch fish... its just on dusk and its weedbed time... Bang fish number one and two and three...Stuff this guide thing ...This is much better....We call it a night.... the bugs are getting bigger

Good report Trev, and good pics....

Looks like the warmer weather is starting to stir things up a bit. If you managed to lose Homer's mother somewhere in B we'll have another crack at her in three week's time!!

Well done Trev and Scotty. It sounds like you found and annoyed a good lot, and photographed a few,,,,,I hope next time it is in reverse with lots of fish boatside, and only few escapees. The big one must have been rather large by the way you were talking. We all have ups and downs, and its good to blow the cobwebs out of the system early and pick the ball up and run with it after, just like the photos show.
    Cheers,
    Thanks for the positive report.

Thanks for good news from Monduran. Good to hear water temp and fish caught numbers are on the rise. Well done on the ones landed and the photos. It keeps sounding like these Barra at Mondy are greater escape artists than their relatives 90 mins north. - Richard
