there would be a few sandies around, but would take some finding at the moment
Mid September they should be around in some numbers again - thats when I'll start looking seriously again
cheers

We have only caught a couple of blueys, small throw backs..Warmer months better
Theres Nothing like a good days fishing.
Mate, absolutely don't forget the rule about if there's not an R in the month. Unfortunalely the Yanks in the Northern Hemisphere have the same rule so I figure instead of thermal sensing that the little exoskeletal decapods must have calendars. Anyway it's always a good idea in this world to watch your Rs.![]()
the sandies are still about in the months with no 'R', but they are just much harder to find.
when you get onto a patch in winter, you will still get a good feed. just have to find them
cheers
Mick
One for the Mythbusters methinks. And where do they get those Blue Swimmers that you see at the fish markets in May June July and August? The idea that they will breed all year round in temperatures above 20 deg makes more sense to me.![]()
A couple of solid muddies in the last week but numbers not great. The sandies like the deeper water that has that run off from the shallows. Give them a squeeze under the spike where you measure them to make sure that they are solid as there is a lot are only starting to fill out
G'day Yellowbeard.
They catch a lot of blueswimmers on deep sea trawls about 5 miles out from Port Stephens. I know, I use to work on one of the trawlers before she sank a few years ago.
LFB Andana (Prawn trawler), it was owned by Mike Rowley of Fortuna Fishing Pty Ltd, before that, it was owned by Danny Asquith.

Crabs dont migrate or anything they just hibernate, so of course they are still there, just most of them dont do alot of moving.
Hey guys,
A mate and I got 8 muddies 3 weeks ago, we worked hard for them but they are around if your're willing to put in the yards and brave the cool air through out the night.
were caught in the estuarine system north of Brisbane but that's all im telling!!!
All were black and full and were washed down with several cold ambers.

slipped the boat in on the weekend down at Currumbin creek, and while fishing pulled up two very nice blue swimmers......the mrs loved them, i had to be happy with a feed of bream..
Thanks all, normally get a few sandies through winter but just seein if by chance there might be some numbers about. Good luck on the water.
Cheers Don
