Don't dismiss the R2Sea triho's...a great lure I reckon. When you think how well these fish bend steel hooks, its no wonder a lure gets crunched into bits from time to time. If its gonna happen....hope its the R2sea and not the X-raps you usually throw Pete. that would be a painful hip pocket experience!
    Cheers Roo.

The trihos only cost me $7 each from Foxies, Roo....one was broken by the barra, the second developed a leak and is now useless and the third is still in operation.

They are very similar in size, dimension and action to bombers and come in a similar range of colours. I have now replaced the two casualties with bombers....

    Xraps still rule though.....

Small price to pay for a fish hey pete!! Ol FLappsy cost me $5 a pop for a fish, but they were well worth it...I have since found a recyle way for them...glue a shadolshus, hollow or storm tail to them and you have a new lure!!

    cheers Steve

A broken Xrap (I have a couple too) is a bit more Xpensive!!!

To be honest Steve I would happily sacrifice an Xrap for a big barra like Homer. Unfortunately when I hooked Homer's mother back in April, she wanted the Xrap more...I'm still looking for a re-match!!

Interesting thought though. I reckon Kyle's 87 cost us around $500 (fuel, accommodation, food and fishing gear etc) and I shudder to think what the average cost of each barra is.....

Perhaps $23 bucks or so for an Xrap is not so bad after all?......

Pete you brought up a really good point about barra fishing ......... You can spend several hundred dollars on a trip - fuel , accom , etc - So you really want to give yourself the best chance of landing a barra ........ so if it means using a $5 placcy or $23 X Rap ....... then its money well spent I reckon
( my gold X rap landed me 2 fish last weekend before it went to a barras pool room )

    Chris
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
    Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

The Barra still wreck them hey Chris .

You would have been impressed after spending 20 minutes in the dark that night (dark as the inside of a cow) tying a bloody allbright that held the day after the following day I did several getting one to hold (did I mention a bit of bad news about the glasses? Neve mind ) finally satisfied with the knot I pelted the lure straight into a tree a smashed it . But it had owners on it, out of the box @#^%@^!!!! Lucky it wasn't rated X .

It was a good few days for me, a few good encounters, very few . But it was good to meet Elliot Goblet, AM and Kath and Kym.
I am not real good with names.
