Sounder troubleshooting
Hi All,
Just hooked up the sounder to my tinnie, it is a Lowrance x136df, just wondering if I installed it correctly as it is reading a depth of 2.3m on the concrete in the garage when the measurement from the transducer to the concrete is about 60cm.
Anyone have any suggestions?, did I install incorrectly.
On a second note, am I able to install the speed wheel (technical name) next to the transducer?
Cheers.

Re: Sounder troubleshooting
The transducer really needs to be in water to test its accuracy. You shouldn't really trust any reading it is giving when it is not submersed.
Ruhn the simulator mode to check the head unit is displaying everything properly, then only other way to test is to actually drop your boat in water and take it for a run... then you can tell if your transducer positioning is fine or not... Remember that you will probably only get a really clear reading of the bottom when at slow speed or drifitng with motor off as bubbles and disturbed water will affect what is "seen" by the transducer... however, in saying that, you should still be able to get a solid depth reading when on the plane... if not, you may have to lower your transducer.

Re: Sounder troubleshooting
running the ounder on while not in water will damage your transducer and should really never happen, the beam that it shoots out will only work in water, when there is no water it works too hard to try and get the reading back, definatley throw it in the water and go from there, provifing all your connections are ok which is hard not to do as the transducer is normally hard wired and you dont have to do anything to it but hook up power and earth. Just make sure the transducer is postioned on the correct angles cheers Lee
