lowrance HDS 5 fuel flow ????

I have a HDS5 with the fuel flow meter and just about all works fine.
what I cant do is reset the fuel level. I have tried fill tank but nothing happens and I have gone to the fuel used and pressed reset trip but it does not reset any tips or ideas on why it would not be working????

mate i do not have the hds 5 i have the lms 522cigps the last model before that, have you tried doing it while the motor is not running ? i had to do that with mine, (i have the nmea 2000 fuel flow meter) ie reset trip when motor is off, not in idle

What do you mean by "reset the fuel level" ;

1. you have added fuel to the boat?
2. you are resetting the trip meter?
3. you want to recalibrate the fuel flow meter to get it accurate?

tried it with the motor on and off .... no differance

1. yes added fuel... than pressed fill tank you have the option of add fuel or fill tank
2. yes reset trip meter.... pressed reset current trip nothing changes even tried reset season but still no change.
3. no fuel flow is accurate



Spoke to local dealer today maybe needs system upgrade...
Can do this without a sd slot, so you need a hds with an sd slot (GPS Model).
so lowrance want it sent to them. they will install the lastest software..

Hope this fixes it. I did not have much luck with the last lowrance fuel flow meter but THEY tell me that the new ones are good.

Ok so as per the attached picture, your tank is configured correctly, you added fuel then selected the "add fuel" button and the fuel on your screen did not change?

so it did not add the fuel to the total volume?

The ep10/60 works a treat and very accurate a lot of people get confused on the adding bit (not saying that you are, just in general) you need to make sure the tank configuration is done properly first.

The HDS does have differance screens but
the tank is configured to 200l

I tried fill tank....no change on the screen

tried add fuel..... no change on the screen

The fuel kept going down as it should just would not accept that fuel was added.

when you configured the tank did you set the tank size? does it show 0 litres of fuel remaining or nothing at all?

on the image I posted above see where it says tank capacity 0.0, is that what yours says (the image is from the product emulator, not my unit thats why it reads 0.0 yours should not).

i have the same and have had the problen as well a did a system reset and it came good

I set the tank to 200l and it now shows 25l

I was going to do a reset but the software is now 2.1.30.58 and mine was 1.????? so I have sent it away for the upgrade hope it all works when it comes back.

I do think it is a poor design that you cant do an upgrade without another HDS unit

OK so I got it back from lowrance no better than when it left..... once agin good work lowrance....

So I did a hard reset as flattyfinder advised and all is good.
