We fished the 50m line but were not bothered by sharks, charter boat on the other hand do love driving over your intended drift.
I didnt realise there were so many charter boats.

Got a feed of Squire, they were quiet early on but about 7am they came on the bite for an hour or so then shut down again.
I then headed in closer to chase some Tailor around the bait grounds

    Re: shocker off the goldie

Mate, I threw the first ones I caught back (many years ago) because I wasnt familiar with them, and If I cant positively ID a fish and be sure it is legal, then it goes back. I am having some pains adjusting to the fish up here as I am not familiar with a lot of the reef species, so will continue to chuck em back if I dont know what they are, or what the legal lengths/bag limits are. Its a learning process.

I have just had some wonderful Kingfish for dinner, and cant understand why ppl knock them for their eating qualities. The flathead caught yesterday are on the menu for tomorrow night. Plenty of fish out there are good chewing.

Getting the grants guide would be a good idea. It is a great book to just read and its amaxing how quickly you can become familiar with many of the fish that you will get on the reefs, as well as some of the not so common ones. Ive lost count of the number of prime eating fish I have thrown back over the years because I didnt know what they were....and I dont for one moment regret doing that. I do make a point of researching it after the event though to be prepared for next time. Keep fishing, and keep posting.

    Cheers
    Greg
