Nice Rob, got to love those days when everything ends well.... makes for the missed fish in the boat a distant memory.... Good to hear Daryl was up there for some recon work with the other lads, I hope he nails one he desrves a goodin by now!
Just a few weeks now till the muster cant wait for som silvery action!!!
Well done mate
Nath
Steve, on Saturday evening we spooked quite a few fish in the bay where you caught Homer....they were hard up against the bank, in amongst the odd bit of lantana and less than 50cm of water....
Kyle got a tap and then snagged on the lantana. When we leccied over to retrieve his lure we disturbed a big girl sitting along side the snagged lure!
Couldn't get any to commit even though water temps were over 23 degrees....
Hi Rob
Shame I didn't get the chance to catch up - oneday (Muster )
Gee you seemed to have the same problem as I did poor hookset . however congrats on your big girl ....... she looks awesome
Chris
Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!
TEAM MOJIKO
Cheers Chris! Was looking for ya too and from the ramp....
Yes the hook setting was very poor! The big girl i hooked in the morning and lost beside the boat i didnt know i was hooked up, felt a tap but no pull.....then she woke up! I think a rear single might help in that situation, will have to give it a try!
Yes some Magnificent Camera work there At least i was in the same boat as a Barra for a while .
Mate I heard you verballing the fish initially then a bloody great splash and wasn't sure if you were ON or IN . It is always a conundrum whether to come over or keep out of the way hey. when a solo fisher is hooked onto a big unit. . Good to meet you especially under those circumstances.
The next night I went out with NAGG at night because he gets scared up the back blocks in the dark by himself .
Credit to Chris for putting us on the fish we had quite a few bumps and bites but only the one hook up WA HOO, I'M ON! set the hook, hold on, jump, NICE one, on hold, set again to be sure, jump clear out of the water! Like free bloody willy and nearly as big! A good fish!
But like free willy, Spat the *Chartruze? charetruse? Bloody GREEN! tailed Drop Bear . Still a memorable hook up and the only one one for the trip .
I did fish the 'round about' the next night where Steve caught the big girl on sun set, then back to 'Nagg's point' for a couple of half hearted casts thinking 'It is bloody dark here, and still a ways to go back the ramp'
So gave it away in favour of the camp fire, camp oven and beverages.
Yesterday I hit the water early and persisted around South B in an area that usually 'produces' some interest. Very quite, in a dream, thinking nothing doing, on the Bomber when just at the end of a retrieve I was about to lift out the lure at the boat when an ENORMOUSE BUCKET MOUTHED MONSTER EXPLODED out of the water beside the boat HOLY CRAP! NURSE!
"Were gonna need a bigger boat!"
Be still my beating heart.
No hook up but that image is locked in with Big Willey jumping to freedom the earlier night.
No fish boated for the trip but fishin and meeting mates;
it sure beats going to work.
*Footnote:
For the other men out there Chartreuse is a colour. It is in fact luminous bloody green.
Fortunately I had a socialite Foxie who new that. I wasn't convinced until a metrosexual Latte drinker of Sydney origin confirmed it. Thanks Nagg, who would have thought some poof would come up with a weird name for luminous green?
