    help choosing surf rod blank

    hey everyone just got a fairly standard question i need some advice with.
    im looking for a blank about 13'6" to suit a 6 1/2 " inch Alvey that will be used for tailor fishing. im thinking maybe a live fibre or what else is out there . whats the blank that wilson use for the Gary Howard "Greenback"? any opinions appreciated. nick

    Gday Nick have a look at a Synder Mag Surf if you can find one, plenty of balls for what you want. These blanks are no longer in production so you may be lucky. Try Tackle Inn at bribie 07 3408 7997.

    Have a look at the following Wilson LiveFibre blanks -
    P1, ZSU4160, Z400. All between 13' and 13'6".
    I have the Z400, strong 8-15kg surf/rock rod, and the ZSU4160, superb 6-12kg surf rod. The P1 is well reputed also, but I haven't seen or used one.
    Also the Pacific Composites Mag Surf Heavy, 8-15kg, and Mag Surf light, 6-12kg.
    Check these out, they are Aussie made and subsequently way cheaper than up-market imports from S.A., U.S.A, or the U.K. To be fair, these imports are a level or ten above the local blanks.
