    Smile Garmin G2 Vision

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows what the advantages of the g2 vision card is over any other card (except for that crap 3d view). Also does the auto routing actually work safely. Thanks for any replies guys.

g2 vision card is only animated verion of contours on the chart looks pretty

auto routing has limitations as it has a built in min depth of 3mt(best guess from memory) so it only route with this in its calculations

there has been discussion on this before search site history lot of useful information was put up

I have the latest software update in mine as of a few months ago i think, anyway the machine now works really well if setup in keel depth etc it will send me over 1.2m deepwater. I use the auto routing evey trip now couldn't do without it as a fuel and time saver.

    cheers fnq

    Hi,

I have the Garmin G2 Vision and find it fantastic especially the Auto routing although you must set the keel settings correctly as per FNQ Cairns comments.

I use, ad find useful, the 3D when navigating in new esturies etc.

    Good Luck.

As the others have said, when set up it is really good. Another advantage of the 3D view I have found is that is does allow you to get a perspective of where beacons are when trying to navigate where there are background lights. Shows you where to roughly look for them in relation to the front of the boat, and helps to locate them.

I always use the auto routing as well, so far so good.
