Where to Fish off Tannum Sands ????

G'day guys ,
I've bumped this thread back coz it's getting closer to departure date !!!

I'm gratefull for the help I've received ! but another question for you guru's !
When fishing the marks you guys have givin me , what is the best times ??? as in out going tide or in comming tide ,slack water ?? or does it even matter ???

I'll always give out certain general marks but what bait to use what tide to fish on and what time of day or night or year to be there well that's what fishing is all about. If everyone tells you where to fish ,what bait to use and when to go there you might as well just drop around to their place and take what fillets you want out of their freezer

I'll say this though ,I find the 12 mile/snapper patch area nearly always fishes best at night on the run up tide but having said that I've had some really good feeds early morning up to lunch time as well. If the trigger fish drive you crazy just keep dropping down baits eventually they will go off the bite and the tuskies and grassies should move in. but not always

From November through to about march the estuary cod usually come feeding for crabs over rubble areas in the harbour and around the islands. The rubble could even be exposed at low water so once you can get over it try dragging a few lures on the run up tide. If you dont get any hits try another colour. Be warned though its easy to hook up with the rubble and expect to lose a lure or three or take a mask and flippers and dive down to to retrieve them
I was out on my days off dragging lures over a few patches of rubble and lost a nice fish that straightened out the tine on a treble and another good fish pulled the last hook on a set of 3/0 gangs that were joined with swivels.
the only cod boated was only just on 38 but was so borderline he went back in.I dont think they are in yet like they have been in the past
A workmate picks up nice jacks in the Boyne fishing the gutters and drains that flow into it around snags on the outgoing tide.
