Nice work Frank! There was none of that stuff at Tempest!
Cheers,
Tim
I hadn’t been out for a while and the weather looked perfect so I invited some of the boys from the Bribie Island Fishing Club. Most of us use the Egrell S10H and I did hear that Eric Grell was heading down this way so I invited him down for a fishing session at Cape Moreton to show the boys how to use these rods correctly.
The wind was up a little bit higher than expected so we stayed close to the Cape for the first few hours. Scalem and Poodroo tagged along in Brian’s new Yalta Craft. It really sits very nicely in the water and seems to cut through the water without too much back ache.
The short story is that we absolutely nailed the Yellow Tail Kingfish and kept a few Snapper for the pot. We moved to Hutchies a bit later and I lost count of the number of Kingies and Amberjack but I did count another three Snapper that came into the boat.
I have added a few photos to help tell the story.

We met Nigel out there. He did mention you needed a bit of practice first.
Hi Andrew,
The Big Kingies are there first hour and last hour of the day but I have yet to land anything bigger that 10 kg. I normally get bricked as well.

Hi Horse,
Either I am getting old or the Kingies are getting stronger. Either way it does take a tremendous effort to get them up before the sharks get them.
I am sure that Eric tries to see how much strain he can put onto his rods before they break.
You can see that I was trying out one of the new S10H split grips in the photo with the Jew. Even with the butt piece wedged under your arm, it still takes a lot of effort to lift the rod.
