Congratulations on a top trip mate. You got out there and pulled up some great fish.
I've been training hard in the gym so I'm ready to battle those brutes one day. I can design a fishing specific weights program for you too. Just for those times when the weather turns nasty. Nothing would beat the real thing though.

I have found offshore with my boat I take out the gear bin in the back and put the esky in the middle at the back. You can then get into the corner of the boat and brace yourself and lock your feet under the side pockets.
Works for me anyway.

Don't believe him Scalem, I went out with him on Sunday and locked both of my feet under the side pockets as instructed and broke off at the knees.
It was bit lumpy coming home to the extent that both my ankles are where my knees used to be, my head is down near my navel, and a couple of other things finished up in my socks.

Scott I was actually doing that a little, even with the back seats in, there is a little clearance under the side pockets I can tuck the feet under, but I am really keen to try it all over again with the back seats out. Must make A BIG difference. The weekend of the 15th I am keeping my fingers crossed, I have 2 deckies for the day who don't want to get off to the Cape and spend extra time on the road unless the weather is perfect. What do you do when there's 3 with seats out? One has to stand up all day??

There are a couple of problems with your suggestion, the 1st is that using the original seat/ esky isn't achieving anything - I need a bigger esky if I repeat my last success, the fish out there come in XOS size, and if I am lucky enough to snag a big dollie or more Kingfish ( see my post in offshore section) I need more length than what Yalta provide as the seat Esky. Apart from not fitting, its very hard to clean a fish that comes out onto the cleaning table in a U shape
I also don't like drilling more holes.. My old boat had so many repair jobs where drilling and resulting moisture getting into the floor or transom caused long term damage.. You can plug it, but the Yaltas' carpet is permanently fixed, making the job harder again.
I spent $30 on interlocking rubber squares that you find in camping shops. 3 across fits perfectly, and the holes line up over two of the fixtures on the floor which will adequately protect the toes. I might grab a photo in the morning to show you what I mean. It gets a field test this weekend all going well.

Yeh I am stoked with the Yalta it is an awesome boat. My suggestion with one seat it was only if you took a third person off shore as deck space becomes a premium especially off shore where the seas get a bit rough, when I fish outside with two people I do run one big esky up the middle - when fishing outside with three people and you start catching big fish we just take a photo of them and then fillet them. If you use the same screws that Marine Tune supply with the other clip they only go about a third of the way into the fibreglass floor and I put the screws back into the other holes so they don't get any water in them and the same when I put the seats back in I put the screws back into the six new holes I have created (the 42lb kingy on my profile has lots of photos taken of it and we filleted it on the boat) interested to look at the photos of the rubber matting. another good idea i seen another guy use was marine carpet on top of the existing carpet for the deck area cut to fit perfect with the hook part of the velcro attached this holds onto you existing carpet to stop movement so when you get home just pull it out throw it on the lawn and hose all the blood and shit straight off hang to dry for next time.

Better late than never. The truth is that the test of the interlocking squares was not very successful during my last trip because with constant movement in the boat, the squares moved and eventually became a pain in the backside as they started to arch up and unlock from each other. HOWEVER, I have a bit of Velcro loop left over and find that it sticks to the underside of these squares, then to the carpet. I think it will hold nicely and the rubber is that nice under the feet it feels like a brand new pair of thongs and cushions the feet going over waves. Worth persevering??
The missing square in the middle is where the esky goes, also with a strip of velcro to stop it from moving with the movement of the boat
In the Yalta 3 squares across is perfect width at the back, but moving toward the bow, naturally it gets narrower, which is why only two squares are slightly offset.

i have both tanks plumbed in also.but at first i had the waste water dropping into the transom also but after a while it started to smell as i think the dirty water gets into the pump even though i wash it properly with soap.now they drain straight out the sides
