Re: Great Wall or Great Flop?

Ok fellas sorry for the delays as I had computer issues with complying with m demands. Anyway, as I was busy at work today I came accross these youtube videos of cars made by CMC which owns pretty much all car manufacturing plants in china includes the ones made te "great wall" But I have t admit i could not find single video of the great wall getting the usual treatment. So the plot thickens from here. they claim a 3 stars rating and release a bunch of still photos? and apparently crash rating or should I say failure doesnt mean you arent allow to sell the quality chiese made car here in oz.

This one currently on sale elsewhere

This one show that the chinese have perfected crumple zone technology

and another just incase I havent made my point this is, if not te popular car in southern china roads.

If they did not comply to Aussie standards wouldn't the established brands have already lobbied successfully and had them blocked? they would have lobbied anyway as a matter of the usual business anticompetitive course.

Guaranteed the large established brands have each had the Chinese completion crash tested and tested otherwise for any non compliance ie emission's.

    I wouldn't buy one....not yet anyway

it is wierd i look at there web site and they look completly different to the colorado looking thing that is pictured there, gees the engines are a tad under powered no wonder why they are so cheap, i wonder how long a company that is making knock off cars will last and what there warranty support will be like, I work for a big holden dealer and i dont see the price of there product staying that low when you see the engine offers, and let me guess there are going to be the same problem of another 4wd company that makes there product to there contrys weather conditions and not the aussie conditions, will be interesting to see what comes of this.

Thats funny the daewoo plant was shut after the holden direct take over and a new one built called GMDAT, different plant different machines different cars same country. Not bad cars at all different work ethics now that holden(gm) has taken a strong hold on the company. What is holdens biggest selling car???? the Captiva and it is currently out selling the ford territory its direct competion and that comes out of the GMDAT plant!

Oh and GMDAT makes the captiva and barina and now discontinued viva

We have a 2 year old Holden Astra as a work car 40k on the clock, we don't own it so i can speak my mind...gee it's a pretty horrible car, it sits well on the road I must say but outside of that there is nothing redeeming, it is I understand fully European, is there a car worth buying to own sold these days?

    cheers fnq
