Cheers Chine, That sure is a good read, thanks. I have a better undertanding of EPIRB now than I did a few day ago. So I am glad I asked on the forum as good information has come forward for all of us. LOL Like the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. The Icom I ordered can link with the sounder/ sat nav I intend to buy to provide a bit more backup. Thanks again.

I emailed Pains Wessex to confirm or not the 5 year free battery replacement today and here is my question and their reply....

I have just bought an RB6 from Discount Sea Mart in Melbourne and have been assured that the purchase includes a free battery replacement after 5 years. It is in fact mentioned in fine print on the box. I am just writing to confirm that the 5 year free battery replacement is in fact correct....?


There is a free battery replacement and a free service of the RB6 EPIRB after 5 years as a part of the 10 year warranty on this product.
