Thread: Freezing Cunji?

    Freezing Cunji?

    Greetings all!

With recent rough seas it has sometimes been difficult gathering bait.

Time and tide also do not always mean that Cunji can be cut when you want them.

If I collect my 20 Cunji from the rocks, can they be frozen and still keep their shape and texture?

    Regards, Rob.

    Re: Freezing Cunji?

You are shelling them or harvesting the whole animal?
I have shelled them and frozen the meats in salt water in a small bucket with no probs before, however heard once you cant freeze the meat alone as it goes into mush upon thaw.

What if you were to layer pack them in salt and then freeze???
I'm no expert, but, I would think that that might eliminate the mushy problem.

    Cheers, Jason.
