    Getting the most out of my Lowrance HDS

    Any tips for getting the best results out of the HDS5 in 20-50m of water?

    I have found that leaving it on the auto settings yields the best results for least effort but I'd hate to think I was missing out on something!

    My previous sounder I found gave the best results by going manual and increasing the gain until the screen displayed some interference then turning it down a notch. Usualy the sensitivity was around the 90% mark.

    Not on a HDS but in general.
    1. Adjust the sensitivity in line with what you have been doing.
    2. increase the ping speed.
    3. Increase the chart speed.
    4. Use upper and lower limits to give you better bottom def
