Best charter from Gold Coast

HI,

Just wondering what a good charter is down Gold Coast way is, or which ones to stay away from...I have my old man comming up from Vic( to cold down there and the Cod are quiet at the moment), and My brother in law is taking him on a charter, I am from up sunny coast way so I havent got any clue who is good or not down there, I cant make it because of work, so even if you tell me a bad one I might send them on it

Hey George, Ross McCubbin runs a boat out of the Gold Coast called Lucky Strike. He backs up on the fish and knows what hes doing, he would be my first choice. Seaprobe is the only other one I'd go on with the rest being better suited to tourists IMHO.

i'd say go to the tweed or out off moreton through south passage... my success on charters down here has been limited... granted they're probably not all like that, just the ones i've been on. Im not sure if there still running anyway.

I have tried about 6 different operations over three years and now always use 'Fish The Deep'. Go for a full day and you will fish the 50's, 42's and 36's. Matt Johnson - the owner/skipper always brings in the goods. Approx $190 for the day including lunch and pick up from hotel if required. Like Platitudinus said, 'Sea Probe' and 'Fish the Deep' are very good charters - I haven't tried the others mentioned, but a few years back I did try a couple that were pretty bad.
