SW winds in Townsville ??
Being Landbased was wondering if SW winds do much for fishing. Thinking about floating a mullet out on a ballon from Rock walls. Havent had much in the way of SW winds so hoping someone knows something

Always heard anything with a W in it, is not good for fishing.
But can't hurt to try, a least your balloon will get away from the rocks..
Hope you hook up big time, best of luck

Put a balloon out last week and floated a bait out and almost all the way to the shark bouys. Nothing happened
Must be that W you are talking about

Go for it, never hold much faith in wind V fish personally but always enjoy the expectation of floating a big bait out.

You said it..........it's all about the anticipation and hope that something spectacular will grab the fish under the balloon.

A south wester should be alright Kev, having the wing behind you will help land based. It will be bloody cold though

Re: SW winds in Townsville ??
I live a little bit north of TSV on the beach and each morning for the past week (SW each day) just before sunrise have seen some large fish working the inshore bait schools (I do stretches on the beach while the dog runs around). A pillie on a float would have been smashed!
So get down to the rockpool early and see what you get.
