Hi mate, there are a few other spots that you can try. At the end of Pallarenda (quarentine station) is a good spot for grunters, flathead, trevally and this time of the year maybe a barra (water too cold). The abbot st bridge on railway estate is also good, check on google maps if can, there are a lot of mangroves in that area good for jacks, flathead and barra. Also look for some other threads there is plenty of info about Townsville.
Good luck
Pedro
another one is the causeway bridge but it might still be closed off because of the supercars nice spot to flick a lure for a barra or aplins wier for a barra or a jack
