Shimano calcutta lucanus jig version

Hey there,

Looking at giving the Shimano Lucanus jig set up a go

I'm deciding between the two combos they offer, the Calcutta Lucanus jig version and T-Curve Lucanus jig overhead rod, or the Stella 5000SW and Lucanus jig spin rod.

has anyone used any of these combos?

Im leaning towards the Stella 5000SW as I've already got a Stella 3000FD and a stella 4000FD and love them, where I've never had or used a calcutta and unsure of any other benefits it would offer over the 5000SW.


Another thing for me leaning across to the 5000SW is that ill be able to use it on on other setups, where i don't know what else i could use the Calcutta for other than the jig set up.

I'd like to hear anyones views,

I'm not a fan of the calcuttas I have killed a couple of 700's

I would be leaning towards the stella

I'd probly go the spin especially for jigging, I have a Stella 6000 FA and love it to death. On the other hand i killed a 700TE Calcutta in about 6 months, i guess catching Cobes up to 35kg didn't help much haha

I had a look at the o'head lucanus rod & really liked it. Not so stiff compared to other tcurves I've played with. What other reel would you guys recommend if the calcutta's don't cut it??
