Curtin artificial reef is always a good place to start but you need live bait, Peter.

A big live bait is your best bet. You can try around any of the major beacons. Have a scan around them with your sounder... if they are holding bait (which is a good place to jig a nice fresh livey ) then chances are a hungry cobia is around! If you want to increase your odds, anchor up near by and start a steady burley trail..

The 4 Beacons used to be handy for them.

you can get them at the houseboat wreck at peel , ............... but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you will need to put in some time to figure out when and how ,,,, ,,,,, and livies are essential

As said sound around the beacons in the northern bay, find the bait use bait jigs and drop the live bait back down where u caught it!
I scored this bad boy drifting a live bonito into a beacon in the northern section of the bay, (had to brag!) i released hi so he should still be out there!

Maybe.... I got lucky and fluked one, but I reckon you'd have to do some hours out there to get any regularly. I usually look for them if I see big stingrays or manta rays out there, they seem to trundle along behind them.

Curtin is just north of Tangalooma. It is clearly marked on the shore, with a white marker at each end, which are in the trees but clearly visible.

Heres the layout of the reef. 27.06.600 153.21.750

Wayne, the fishing club meeting is next tuesday night. Give me a ring and we can organise to have a feed beforehand. Quite a few guys in the club can give you the good guts on where to find cobia.....you may even be able to score a ride with one of em. (personally prefer western rocks).
