When using livies for snapper would it better to tow them around or anchor up near some structure or just drift? Any thoughts..

hey mate iv alwaysed liked to anchor up near where the bait is holding if possible an start a good berley trail and place my livies in an around the outer edges of the trails. it been a pretty productive way of fishing for me so far!
cheers
I prefer to anchor and burley when fishing for snapper but drifting can be effective too if conditions are favourable.
If inside the bay I usually drift livies past thier likely locations, and have a preference for live hardiheads for snapper with winter whiting coming a close second. Bay snapper gulp down small livies quick as lightning so leave your drag set for a kilo or two and use circles on your livies, let them hook themselves.
Jack.
Anchor and ajust your weight to get them to the right height where the snaps are sitting. Don't forget the snapper rise in the late afternoon.

Here at Arno we use livies quite often with great success.
used mainly on anchor in 90ft+ i will swim them down nose 1st with a small running sinker when the tide is slow(top hook near the tail the other in top of fish near top fin). when the tides roaring i put them the other way around, top hook up through jaw & bottom hook further back. they work a treat, you will be surprised how big a livie can be taken by a small snapper.
we pick up the odd jewie to using them
good luck
