    Wanting to go Snapper Fishing

    G'day everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a charter that specialises in Snapper fishing, from the Tweed coast or even a bit further a field? Heck I would travel to the sunny coast or south to Yamba if I knew I was going to get a snapper.
I don't mean one that just legal but one that has a real knob on it's head.
While I have caught pan sized ones before I have never got a knobbie. And the urge to do so is building up inside of me big time.

I know that a lot of you guys and girls score some big ones at time so some must know of a charter.
    thanks
    Aussiefool
    Andrew

P.S. If your going Snapper fishing and need and deckie give me a call my details are in the data base

    thanks again

You should stretch your horizons and head for Arno Bay in South Australia. The big models there are 2-3 times the size of the best you'll get here! A 7 or 8 kg model there is just a pup, here it's a trophy fish!

I can't help you with a Charter, but you will get plenty of suggestions here, I'm sure.

    Cheers,

    G'day Aussiefool,

I have noticed that some of these people who chase snapper (the knobby) are reluctant to assist or provide information. Good luck with it. The only charter operator I know is Sea Probe, they leave from Southport, the vessel is about 36ft. They will try to get snapper but mainly chase other specimens.

    Hope this might help alittle.

    Thanks mate,
I was thinking that I might just have to do that. Fly down for a weekends fishing,or just save up a bit more and buy a boat.

Just be careful about certain 'charters'. Some will tell you anything. Ask lots and lots of questions. Like, in my opinion, I wouldn't touch those boats that use Alvey reels (yes guys great beach reels) but winching up reef fish with an Alvey has about the same feel as playing golf with a cricket bat. Last year after being assured that a 'charter' specialised in snapper I paid $140 to be crowded on a tub and treated like a school child amidst deckies with attitude problems. And of course we all only caught garbage fish.
I think my ideal charter would cost $$$$$$, so I guess you get what you pay for. Ideally I would like to go out with 3 or 4 fishers with specialist gear and into the right grounds with suitably apt instructors who enjoy sharing their fishing skills and don't treat you like some day-tripping idiot.

Hi Guys growing up in Whyalla South Australia and also ex charter fisherman gives me a little edge ahead down there.

If you want to seriously catch reds... then I fully recommend K&R Charters of Whyalla...........Tumby Bay like mentioned above is also a great fishing destination with the Sir Joseph Bank Groups of Islands a short trip from the boat ramp these places are also just as good for KIng George whiting to 70cm

Only another short run by car and you are at Pt Lincoln...Home of the Tuna...

They have a web site so check it out....I have been out with them in years gone by and had a very successful day. These guys bag out more often than not and really have the drops to provide decent fish.

I can also recommend a few others around the district so if you are seriously thinking of going i would only be to happy to help you out. You need the GPS marks or your wasting your time.

For those heading to Adelaide for a bit of beach fishing,,,I can steer you in the right direction for really, big (Jew fish) Mulloway...no need for bait just lures.....

Have pulled fish to 90lb from here at the Murray mouth not far from Victor Harbour.

    Thats Fishin

Give Smithy a PM. He might be able to sort something out. He seems to have the knobbies sown up around mooloolaba

yep, Smithy would be a good bet, or as mentioned, if you want a BIG one SA is the place to go, but it is a tad further than the Sunny Coast for you.

I got 5 that would have been just the right size for a smoker last Friday

Well. I definitely won't be going back to the sand pumping jetty for tailor, beach here I come. Will also be changing line class and use lures and see what developes. Very early sessions also will be had but don't like the upcoming weather, heavy seas and rain again forecasted this coming weekend.
