Hello again fellow Ausfishers, this will be our final post for a little while, as we are off to Houston USA in the next couple of weeks....we will still be checking in regularly to the Ausfish website, so hope everyone gets some good fishing in over the next few months while the weather is at it's best....
Early monday morning we headed out for our charter from 1770 with Coral Coast Game Fishing. Kev and his son Levi had the 40 foot Blackwatch ready to go ...it was a short run over to the bait grounds...as we loaded up with a heap of yakkas, a pair of local dolphins dropped in for an easy feed...the bait jigs didnt even get down near the bottom...as they were swimming up to meet them!!!...the kids had a great time scooping up the fish
With our live bait tank filled to the hilt, we cruised out to the red grounds to try our luck...
Only minutes into the trip, our lines started to go off, with our first big red safely landed.
Several other reds were landed of various sizes, and just before lunch, young Nick and I had a great double hook up with the best 2 reds of the day being landed, Nicks going 12.5 and mine going 12.1kg. The next best reds went 9.5, 8.5 and one just over 7kg.
After a great spread put on for lunch inside the lady musgrave lagoon, we went back out to pick up a couple more reds, maori cod and some beautiful tomato cod...of which was a first for us...
All up we ended up with 9 reds and several of the other great reef species that the 1770 area has to offer...I can definately recommend Kev and the Coral Coast crew as simply one of the best charter operators around...hook up with them if you get the chance.....this was our second trip out with them, and we have had a fantastic time on each outing, with plenty of excellent fishing as the bonus...
Check out our pics for the day, and hope everyone keeps tight lines....so long for now...

Carbon Really Ain't Pollution.
well the first thing that comes to mind is B!@#!%^s as my 1770 trip for a week from the 18th has been cancelled due to skippers work committments and my boat is still off the water for another 3-4 weeks. Second thing that comes to mind is bloody well done on a quality catch. If you dont mind what did it cost you for the day??? thanks Lee
thanks Lee, the trip was great, and costs $2200.00 for a full day, with everything provided...all the best gear with saltiga reels etc...they are definately not the cheapest charter around, but they would be close to if not the best, and well worth the money...as I said, this is our 2nd trip with them, and I would go back again...you can take up to 8 on the boat, excluding the crew, but I recommend 6 for the blackwatch.....check out their websit at www.coralcoastgamefishing.com.au
or call Tony on 0447 347 437

Dave & Sunny,
Top post & some great photos guys. Good to see you both getting into some reds, it was only a matter of time Sunny. I would have loved going out with you, but you know me, tend to put work commitment first.
It definitely won't be the same around here without you guys.
Will catch up over the weekend.
Cheers Gazza
