Cant view pictures on threads

I cant seem to view pictures that people are putting up on their threads, all i will get is a little caption at the top of the page that gives some brief details of the picture and there is a big blank space below it?
Is there somewhere to click or another way to upload these photos that i cant see?

All attachments were lost for all threads prior to the upgrade of the forum to the new software in January 2007.
