    Re: peel cobia

thanks fellas, yeah he was a nice little fish and i dont get too many of em down this neck of the woods, but had been putting out a berley trail for about 3 hours.

Got him on a live moses perch ( legal size) with a 6/0 gamatsu circle hook through the back of the neck behind the head, unweighted, chinese penn 7000 spinning reel and snapper rod both from Kmart with ten kilo line and 50 lb 4 metre long jikai leader.

Fish went 940 long , took ages to get it to the boat, i was on my own and had a hell time getting it in the net

got some nice squire too but nothing as good as what the other fellas on this site have been getting so did not post pics

    Re: peel cobia

Thanx ron , yeah he went balistic , they have very hard heads,,,,,,,, but the heavy blow to the back of the head with the large shifting spanner from my tool box seemed to settle him down fairly quikly and he fell asleep in the icebox

    Re: peel cobia

Thata a good fish for around peel mate. Damb that would wake you up sitting there watching the burley trail run off then baaaaaaag. Well done PS it is fn trying to net a big bugger by yourself tricky stuff to not snap the rod or the net cutting through as he searges away.
