Great report mate what ended up happening with the f-truck did he end up getting it out or did the sea end up claiming her.

    Ballsie,

Thanks for posting the report, we had a great time with some great fishing and look forward to another trip next year.

Four snatch straps were broken in the attempted recovery of the F Truck in the early stages, and it was an extreamly sad situation to watch unfold over an hour and 1/2. The tide was comming in quiet quickly and within an hour it ended up with water up to the door handles, by the time the loader came down from the shop. It had been copping a pounding for close to 45 minutes befor it was lifted out, remarkably the motor was still running when it was draged up the beach but cut out within a minute of being unhooked. In the end it could not be re started and was towed back down the beach two day's later. It surley was a sobering experiance to all who had to watch it unfold.

I was fishing in the surf about 100m to the south and out on the back of the next sandbank with a mate, when the car in the photos got stuck. It was gut wrenching to see it unfold. We couldn't do anything to help. Once they start to sink they suck in to the sand. 4 years ago the same thing almost happened to us. My mates car was saved because a tractor was about 150m away and he was able to help straight away.

what depth did the reds come out of?

    Re: Fraser June 20TH-27TH

    Thanks for the comments guys,

The reds came in 45-50m by that sounder shot.

The F truck was towed off the island with the boat behind it for $1500 and i think his insurance covered that. We tried to help but it was to no use as she went straight down. He said that he had added it to his policy and its probably a good think everyone should check on their insurance if they are going up there.

Definately a great trip was had by all our crews and just can't wait for next year's trip.

Good post Ballsie, it was a good week and they ceratinly wre good reds that day you guys got.

Shane, I was there that week in the Hainse 600 with Ballsie and there were many cars and hands on deck to try and get that F250 out. 4 SNATCH STRAPS broken as the car weighed about 4 tonne. Even one of the Pro fishers tractor could not budge him. I certainly learnt heaps that week on how easy it comes undone when you dont work as a team getting the boat on and off the trailer as fast as posible. Biggest lesson for the guy was don't put the pedal to metal as you go down faster than a poofter at the mardi gras.

All up great week good fish caught now its 1770 in september.
