Noice one Ian - would have liked to have had some heli shots of us jumping Dave's Vermont at the Southport bar..... felt 30 ft high anyway.
Old mate in the bass boat was always on a hiding - don't think he'd done much of that stuff.
Yep gotta agree, a dead set dipstick, A great boat in my opinion but a really silly driver, cant even navigate a wake of all thing's, everyone know's - button off a bit, go through it and then blast away! pretty simple really!
I have to agree about how they push the life jacket and kill lanyard but dont even bother saying a thing about being a responsible operator!
you can gas it thru a wake just not at that angle and trim ! hahahaha
Nothing wrong with the boat, just an operator error. All this talk about overpowering etc.. is nonsense!
After growing up water skiing and having a brother that has raced outboards that boat is not over powered. Plain and simple that guy is an idiot.
Someone commented about leaving him in the water for 10mins, thats the best thing they could have done. If he had any spinal damage he is better of left in the water as it provides better support than being draged into another boat by unskilled mates. Best to wait till hes concious then see if he is OK and has no spinal injuries. My cousin did this while skiing with friends and saved a guy from a wheel chair, shes was also a spinal care nurse so knew what she was on about.
IMHO As a guy who used drive and observe in ski race boats that boat was overpowered and unstable and was certainly not in trim.
If you wanted to have some hope of calling it safe and stable (for idiot drivers such as the one shown) you would have at least had to have moved the sole occupant to the centre and the thing would still have chine walked and still would have been a risk particularly with the skill level of "our idiot" I wonder how many of them are Bass fishing in the US?
Certainly agree with your point about leaving victims in the water until the extent of injury is known and having fallen off while being dragged at ski race speeds and while barefooting its the only way to reduce long term injury.
All i can say is that these bass must be a very fast fish if you need that much boat speed to catch them!!!! At least our impoundments have a 40 knot speed limit, barra must be a slower fish!
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
Leaving the person in the water is good from a spinal point of view, HOWEVER make sure they are breathing as often the unconscious person sitting up with obstruct their airway. Best thing is to jump into the water , float behind them and support their airway by lifting their jaw upwards (jaw support).
I agree the driver is at fault, you can see he gets more and more unstable then crosses a wake at that speed. Lucky he friends didn't attend his wake! Impressed the boat didn't flip.
