Do you need braid for whiting? I thought any half decent brand mono would be more than enough? I have never had a whiting chew through my mono line yet.
Mate you don't use braid for abrasion resistence anyway...I don't think it's a matter of a 'toothless' whiting biting thru the line but more so the sensitivity to feel bites better and hook more fish...
I for one use braid for EVERY species. I don't fish off the rocks where i feel MIGHT be the only place i would consider using it.
Use 4lb fireline in crystal if bait fishing seeing as you won't need to keep track of the belly such as you would flickin plastics...If you are flickin lures for them then a coloured 4lb fireline would be the choice.
If using braid too make sure you employ a flurocarbon leader so you scare fish off.

I have never used braid for whiting, but, I guess something similar to what you would normally use for bream.
2kg fireline at most.
Probably match it with a 6lb mono or flurocarbon leader and you should be fine.
10lbs braid as mainline and 15lbs flourocarbon leader with snell 2/0 gamakatsu live bait hook.yeap, you read it right and i still get mr.KG ting on the setup around the heads.
Standard bream 4-6lb should be ok on whiting.Brand well thats up to you but fireline is a good cheaper braid, casts well, ties well.Uni to uni knot to your 6-10lb flurocarbon leader.
