Just after opinions on what dropper loop knot everyone uses for big reef fish, I use the standard type as shown here in this video http://videofishingknots.com/dropper-loop.html but wonder if there is a method that is stronger.

Isaac I find the knot at the line is not the problem but the end where you put the loop through the hook is where I get breakages
Stuie
IF IT CAN'T EAT A WHOLE PILLY I DON'T WANT IT
Strongest method is a 3 way swivel.
Man that video makes a really easy knot look really hard!!!!
strongest of all is a standard swivel,(good quality) the main line tied to one end so it still helps with twist, and the sinker and hook "droppers" are tied to the other end, works a teat, does not tangle and is by far the strongest, looped droppers hooked over the hook eye, are used by people too lazy to retie a hook.
Hi Isaac
I had a few issues with the std dropper some time ago and happened onto this kiwi dropper loop at http://www.fishingkites.co.nz/fishin...ing_knots.html (scroll down to it) It can snap like a carrot if you don't tie it right and this will happen in your hand when you pull it down it just does not feel right much like the old one, but when you nail it the whole thing snugs up like it was meant to and as yet has not let me down. The site gives you all the test info but it is on the net so you don't know how accurate it is. Hope this helps.
Ps. The first loop is the opposite to the old dropper, once you get that in your head it is easy.
Cheers
