    Mud Session

    Hi All,
Shot out to Mud today at 12.30 in perfect conditions.. Now i have only fished there a few times for not much but I am going to persist until I unlock the code..!!
Using pillies I started a drift and came across some nice looking ground and threw the pick. Turned out to be a great little session with plenty of squire coming aboard. I must have caught about 30 between 30-33cm, great fun. Did manage 2 @ 35cm and 2 @36cm all released though. Also got blown away by something that just was not stopping, could have been a mack as there was quite a bit of surface activity around 3.00pm. On my first cast a turtle took a liking to my pilchard, I was hoping to cut the leader as close as I could but it snapped about a metre from the hook, hope the big fella will be ok, he had me feeling guilty all afternoon. Has anyone else hooked a turtle out there??
That was the most success I have had at mud and will keep persisting, with the weather the way it is, I might just have to do it again tomorrow.
Sorry guys no pics, the wife misplaced(lost) the camera on the sauce!!!

    Cheers Benno

God it must have been tough being out there whilst us mere mortals were slaving away at the coal face. Hard luck on not getting anything of size mate although those squire can be a lot of fun. Keep going as I am sure the big one won't be far away.

yea i've foul hooked a small turtle on plastics, was able to bring him in and remove it with no signs of damage.
I'm also yet to unlock the secrets if mud, persistance is the way though, still better then a day at work, good job.

Benno if you put in the hard yards you will get a return one day !

I was 60k of Mooloolabah 2 weeks ago and i cast my plastis out and a Bird of some sort (huge) dives down to have a look, he got too close and hooked himself on the wing.... i put in free spool and we started to motor up to him thinking of all different ways to get him free (with out leaving the hook in ).....
We felt physicaly sick to him in such distress.... thank god he pulled it out him self before we got to him.

The bird (like us) just sat there for while thinking how bad it really could of been.

Good going as mus seems to be a lot of trial as no good fish there for me either. I have had a huge turtle take my bibbles barra basha at green one day ( i felt bad to) Were you in the shallows or out off the deeper water ?. I have tried all sides and mates tell me each are best so it doesn,t seem to even ask people good spots as it is all good on different tides and times. Bad luck on that unstoppable. Thanks for leaving it for me lol. Cheers.
