There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
Thats about what I thought.
I've been picking up undersized macks, but nothing of any size. I haven't caught any salmon yet this year either. I'm a bit peeved at the bloke that keeps continually netting Girt Island. I went over after work the other day and he had about 500m of net out.
Palfrey, who also lives at Coowonga said he has seen him out there too.
I went out to Karamea Banks Saturday night in my bigger boat an picked up a couple of spannos and 35 reefies. We had a great night, the water was like glass on daylight.
Let's hope the weather drops out this weekend! I have Monday off and might try the spearing myself.
What was the visibility like yesterday?
Cheers
Ryan
Was good he said he for him to get a few on the Northern Side
Yes heard the netters were about ................... There were some thready's in the harbour sunday morning , a few boats where catching a few earlier before they got chased off.
Wetaher is dusted for a good few days now with some showery activity over the next week i believe. When the wattle comes out is a sign for the salmon to be in Apparently lol.
I have the flu full on at moment so no spearing or fishing for me at moment

Every year from July to September you will catch good Blue Salmon in Cooraman, the best days to chase them are during the week when the cold south westerly is blowing.
Should be a few Snapper showing up around Hummocky/ Cape Cap by now also Man and Wife and Outer Rock.
I'm hoping to get out Monday for a run.
The way the weather is looking this morning though I might even head out tomorrow morning.
I still havent caught a snapper. Plenty of squire though.
On a differnt note. Does anyone know where you can catch squid around here?
I've heard the northern end of keppel fishes alright for them but I waqsn't sure what time of year etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Ryan

Squid - any of the shallow reef around north and south keppel and in between myall etc, also at Hummocky if your down that way) beware the squid can be large and mean(and tasty) in CQ, good bonus to the seafood platter aye jt
Thanks guys,
I'm definitey going to give that a go next time I take the missus to the islands.
I'm curious to know whether there are any around the park too. I have pulled one out at night on bait around entrance rocks. Last time I threw a jig around there during the day though cod kept hitting it!
I don't particularly like fishing around the islands because its a bit fished out. I'll be getting on to some crays next trip too, so it should make for a decent seafood platter.
You guys don't know any local scuba divers do you?
I have all my own gear and a boat but I'm having trouble getting guys to come with me. The mates that I did my course with either moved away or have babies on the way etc.
If you haven't alreadt you should have a go. I swear every seroius fisherman would love it. Its very interesting to compare what your sounder shows as to what is actually down there!
You would be suprised how many trout and barramundi cod are around too.
Adrian at the SecretSpot in Yeppoon mate tell him i sent ya.
I've just gotten back into spearing so baby steps for me ......... Next step will be diving but spend enuff on fishing and my boat
